3-D Mammogram Technology

Latest in Mammogram Technology Brought to Wickenburg Community Hospital

Wickenburg Community Hospital (WCH) is the only healthcare facility within a 30-mile radius to bring the most precise and accurate breast imaging to patients. Wickenburg Community Hospital Foundation partnered with Pink Ribbon Angels, RH Johnson Foundation, Jane Starke Boyd and Alexander Boyd Arizona Charitable Foundation, and individual donors to fund this 3-D mammography technology.

About the Mammogram Machine

The images from the FUJIFILM ASPIRE Cristalle mammography solution with digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) are more detailed than two-dimensional images allowing providers to detect changes in the breast much sooner.

The technology can literally save lives through earlier detection of breast cancer. The availability of this machine in rural Wickenburg is a community service. Patients are often happy and relieved to avoid a trip to the Valley for the advanced technology.

The FUJIFILM ASPIRE Cristalle with DBT combines state-of-the-art, Hexagonal Close Pattern (HCP) capture technology, and intelligent image processing, optimizing dose and contrast based on individual breast composition.

The result is a low-dose and fast acquisition of exceptional images for all breast types. DBT acquires a series of images of the breast at different angles, providing greater visibility of breast tissue which can help radiologists identify lesions that might otherwise be difficult to visualize in traditional 2D mammogram images.

Improvement in Imaging & Comfort

In addition, patients may experience a noticeable improvement in comfort during procedures with Fujifilm’s patented, flexible comfort paddle design, which provides gentle and even compression that is designed to more comfortably adapt to patient curves.

“Early detection increases the odds of breast cancer survival, unfortunately, a considerable number of women still hesitate to participate in screening for a variety of reasons,” says Rena Koeneke, medical imaging manager at Wickenburg Community Hospital. “This solution is designed to enhance patient comfort and increase workflow allowing our team to conduct a higher number of screening examinations in less time. This is a benefit for both patients and staff, saving time and providing a diagnosis sooner.”

WCH’s Breast Center Designation

The Wickenburg Community Hospital Breast Center is the only center in Arizona, and one of only 58 centers nationally, to be recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence™ by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program™ (NQMBC®). The centers chosen for this designation meet the highest quality standards in breast cancer care. The Hospital is committed to providing health and wellness services where the patient, family, and community come first.
