Medication Packaging Service to Improve Health, Quality of Life
Wickenburg Community Hospital Foundation funded the latest in pharmacy technology to make taking daily medications easier and safer.
WCH Pharmacy’s E-Z MedPak service is designed to prevent dangerous medication errors for patients taking multiple prescriptions. It also removes the guesswork for patients by allowing the pharmacy to pre-sort and package medications, labeling each dose by day, date, and time.
Studies show that more than half of patients on multiple medications do not take their medications correctly. E-Z MedPak encourages greater independence and can accommodate prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and even vitamins and supplements.
Medication non-adherence leads to 125,000 preventable deaths and more than $500 billion in avoidable healthcare costs each year. The date-and-time stamped pouches mean no more pill sorting and fewer errors. Patients say they have experienced improvements in their health and family members are thrilled their loved ones no longer skip medications or accidentally take too much.
Made Possible with Donor Support
This service is made possible by Wickenburg Community Hospital Foundation’s funding for the installation of the RapidPakRx™, a pharmacy robot designed and manufactured in the United States. With 23 vision systems and three layers of integrated machine vision pill detection, verification, and inspection, RapidPakRx can provide a high volume of multi-med pouches with unparalleled accuracy and speed, at a very low cost.
WCH Pharmacy and Congress Pharmacy offer the E-Z MedPak service at no charge and will even deliver the medication to customers. To learn more about E-Z MedPak, please call (928) 684-4380.
