Major Renovation Project Paves the Way for Improved Emergency Care
Driven by the need to accommodate a significant increase in the utilization of emergency services, Wickenburg Community Hospital Foundation raised more than $1 million to renovate the Hospital’s Emergency Room.
The renovation project included a new emergency walk-in entrance, registration area, triage area, and improvements to exam areas. The improvements allow for more efficiency in registering and triaging patients. The project was finished just before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The improvements in the Emergency Department strengthened our ability to care for our patients,” says Jodie Allen, Wickenburg Community Hospital’s chief nursing officer.
“Providers are now better able to assess the needs of each patient, treat them and send them home, admit them to the hospital, or transfer them to another facility.”
Providing Top-Notch Emergency Care
Wickenburg Community Hospital is a Level IV Trauma Center that provides around-the-clock emergency care with board-certified emergency physicians and a highly trained, skilled nursing staff with advanced trauma and life support certifications. There is also air medical transport on site. The average wait time for care at WCH is about 80% faster than emergency departments in the Valley.
The team in the Emergency Department also draws on the expertise of leaders in the medical field to improve the quality of care for patients. WCH partners with Barrow Neurological Institute, one of the country’s top centers for neurology and neurosurgery, for stroke evaluation and treatment. This telehealth service allows specialists at Barrow to assess patients in real-time and determine the best course of action. Similar partnerships for patients in cardiac distress are in development.
Our Gratitude to Supporters
The Emergency Room renovation would not have been possible without the generosity of local non-profit organizations and individual donors.
